Ann Vuceta Mavromatis, 92, of Steubenville, passed away peacefully Sunday June 2, 2019 at the Lancia Villa Vista in Steubenville.
Ann was born on February 5, 1927 in Steubenville, the daughter of the late Joseph Vuceta and Martha (Dragovich) Vuceta. She is also preceded in death by her step-father Daniel Gnatovich, sister, Katie Gnatovich, her husband, Chief George J. Mavromatis, brothers Rade Vuceta, Nick Vuceta, Mitch Vuceta, her daughter Georgianne Mavromatis Arnette and son John G. Mavromatis.
Ann graduated from Steubenville High School in 1944 and attended nursing school in Cleveland. Ann returned to Steubenville to work for family doctors. She left the medical field to start a family who were then the priority of her life. Not only her children and husband, but many friends she helped. She has touched many hearts throughout her life. Ann was a member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Steubenville.
She is survived by her brother, Michael (Barbara) Gnatovich of Las Vegas, NV., three sons, James (Babette) Mavromatis of Steubenville, Michael (Jay Lynn) Mavromatis of South Haven, MS. and Nickolas (Lynn) Mavromatis of Enfield, CT. Ann clearly enjoyed being called “Baba” by her 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family greatly appreciates the compassion and care provided by Lancia Villa Visa staff and her final days of care from Valley Hospice.
Friends will be will be received on Thursday, June 6, 2019 between 3:00pm – 7:00pm at Mosti Funeral Home, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, with a Pomen service at 6:45pm.
Service will be held at Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00am with Rev. Stefan Djoric and Rev. Nick Halkias with burial at the Serbian Orthodox Cemetery.
