Dena G. Cashioli

Dena G. Cashioli, 97, of Steubenville, found the way to go home on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019. She passed away peacefully in the Valley Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family. Dena was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Grace DeVincentis Tarquinio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter C. Cashioli in 2006, and three sisters, Mary Minco, Minnie Gentile and Philomena Scurti.

She worked at the former Hub Department Store in Steubenville before becoming a homemaker and focusing on raising her children. Dena was a former member of Holy Name Cathedral and was very active in its Catholic Women’s Club. She later became a member of Triumph of the Cross.

Dena loved spending time with her family, especially around the table in her kitchen, and attending all school related and sporting events of her children and grandchildren.

Dena’s Family is thankful for the care she received from the office of Dr. John Figel and Roseanne Trimmer, Trinity’s Hospitalists, and the nursing staffs at Trinity and Valley Hospice.

Left to cherish memories of Dena are two daughters, Carol (Ed) Looman of Steubenville who both lovingly and compassionately cared for Dena in their home these last several years, Marilyn (David) Mosti of Steubenville; and three sons, Dennis Cashioli of Woodbridge, Va., Bernard “Bernie” (Tami) Cashioli of Wintersville and Mark Cashioli of Steubenville. 

She also is survived by eight grandchildren, Christopher (Jen), Michael and Megan Cashioli, Ryan (Elizabeth) and Jess Looman, Jared (Jess) and Justin (Alyssa) Mosti and Isabella Cashioli; and nine great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jake and Alex Cashioli, Eli, Koby, Weston and Victor Looman, Westlyn Mosti and Mia Cashioli with two more on the way.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 4-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. 

A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Thomas Nau will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Dena’s family respectfully requests memorial contributions be directed in her memory to Catholic Central High School, 320 West View Ave., Steubenville, Ohio.
