Anita J. Laukert, 81, of Wintersville died Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Valley Hospice. She was born November 29, 1944 in Chicago, IL. She is the daughter of the late Harry and Emily Funsoosten. Also preceding her in death is a sister Dorothy “Snookie” Hathway.
Anita was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for the FBI. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and its CWC. She also helped in making perogies and working bingo at the church. Anita was a room mother at Aquinas Elementary School, helped with reading and was a part of the Aquinas Mom’s. She always enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play in various athletics.
Surviving are her husband Robert J. Laukert, whom she married on October 31, 1964; two sons, Michael Laukert of Napa Valley, CA, and Sean (Robin) Laukert of Steubenville; one daughter, Patricia Laukert of Wintersville; three grandchildren Sean, Kyle and Bryce; two great-grandchildren London and Lennox.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-6 pm the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held Friday at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Fr. Michael Gossett will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
