Betty Jane Foley Maley

Betty Jane Foley Maley, 94, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020 at her home after a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She never lost her sense of humor, her sweet calm demeanor or her faith in God. Not once did she ever complain or ask, “why me?” Even when she could no longer speak, she communicated her love and kindness with her eyes.

Betty was born April 10, 1926 to James and Margaret McCartney Foley. She was also the loving step daughter of Charles Batting Sr. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and step father and the love of her life, John “Jack” Maley, who died November 2011, to whom she was happily married to for 65 years. They were inseparable and her beloved son David Maley who passed away in October of 2011. She is survived by her daughter Marnie Maley of Steubenville.

She and Jack were two of the original members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a former member of the CWC. She was a kind woman who always saw the good in people and her laughter would fill the room. She was a friend to all. After graduating from Steubenville Big Red, she worked for Dr. E. Perri OB/GYN and then became a stay at home mother to raise her family.

I would like to thank Valley Hospice for their guidance and care over the years, especially her nurses Michelle, Marissa, social worker Suzi, Chaplain George and special thank you to Deacon Randy and Mary Ellen Redington, our neighbors, for their love and support. Also to Cindy Longwell, our wonderful friend and mother’s longtime caregiver without whom I would not have been able to keep mother at home all these years. She has been like a daughter to Betty. Our thanks to Jennifer Petrozzi’s care and support this last year.

Mother has outlived most of her dear family and friends so there surely will be a wonderful reunion in heaven. She will be forever missed by me. Until we are all together again mother, I love you.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Monday, September 14, at 10 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be private in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Masks will be required to enter church.
