Beverley Gelety Obituary

Beverly Meisner Gelety, 72 of Cary, North Carolina, formerly from Steubenville and Youngstown Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19 at home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers and Dementia. 

Bev was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who's steady presence, quiet strength and love for life touched everyone who knew her.

Bev was born February 11, 1954 to Tom and Helen Meisner in Youngstown Ohio and attended St. Christine grade school until her family moved to Bridgeville, PA where she graduated 6th in her class from Canevin High School in 1972.

She graduated from Miami of Ohio in 1976 where she received a Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and soon after began her career at the Speech and Hearing Center in Steubenville, Ohio.

She made Steubenville her home where she made many friends while playing girls softball, raquetball and bowling in the Steubenville Women's Bowling League.

Bev met her soulmate Steve in June of 1980 and married him in 1981 and have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters whom she cherished and adored.

Bev and her family moved to Cary, North Carolina in 1999 to escape the harsh Ohio Valley winters and to be closer to the beach, her favorite place to be and lived there until the time of her death.

Bev is preceded in death by her mother and father, Tom and Helen Meisner, 2 brothers, Dickie Meisner and Dr. Thomas Meisner Jr.

She is survived by her Brother Warren(Linda) Meisner, husband Steve, daughters; Margo Campbell, Megan(John) Purvis, Rockelle Gelety and 2 granddaughters, Sadie and Hazel Purvis.

At Bev's request she will be cremated and no funeral services will occur at this time.

A celebration of Bev's life will be scheduled at a later date.
