Cathy J. Craig

Cathy J. Craig, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Wintersville, OH, passed away March 20, 2023 after a year-long battle with brain cancer.

Cathy was born September 2, 1950 in Akron, OH.  She is preceded in death by her mother Julie Ellen, father Stanley Georgiafandis and stepfather Ted Ellen.

A graduate of Steubenville High School, Kent State and WVU, Cathy served the students of Steubenville for 35 years.  She loved teaching and her students.

Cathy leaves her devoted husband John, a courtship that began at Big Red and lasted 47 years.  She leaves one daughter Michelle Dixon and her husband Luke.  She also leaves four grandchildren who she loved deeply, Jack, James, Charlotte and Mark, a sister Maria Georgiafandis and her husband Bud Connolly, and a stepsister Vasso Espinosa and her husband Henry.

A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville on Monday, March 27 with viewing at 9:30 am followed by services at 12:00 pm and internment will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Embrace Hospice House of Myrtle Beach, Holy Trinity Church, SHS Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice.  The family would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice of Horry County and Mosti Funeral Home.
