David J. "Big Dave" Stasiulewicz, 87, of Steubenville passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
David was born February 23, 1937 in Steubenville. He was the son of the late John and Josephine Rusiecki Stasiulewicz. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Carole Giffin Stasiulewicz in 2015 and his infant brother Jack.
Dave was retired from Weirton Steel Corporation in 1998 and was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was a talented craftsman who shared his skills lovingly with his family. Dave enjoyed his family immensely including carrying on his Polish ethnic background and his many culinary talents. As anyone would remember Dave always said "get the recipe". He also enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of his many friends. He was a long standing Polish Athletic Club member as well as a member of the American Legion, Polish National Allicance and Slovenian Club.
Dave is survived by daughters; Karen (Greg) Duplin of North Canton, Cheryl (Dan) Keenan of Bloomingdale, Janine (Keith) Murdock of Wintersville, and Jill (Rich) Riffle of Calcutta; grandchildren Keith (Molly) Keenan, Todd (Heather) Keenan, Elise (Justin) Fox, Matthew (Ashley) Duplin, Bradley Duplin, Jude and Elijah Riffle, Kristin (Aaron) Breeze and Greg (Dana) Murdock. Great grandchildren Amora, Josephine and Gideon Fox, Bristol Keenan and Marlo Keenan, and Maddox Murdock. He is also survived by his sister Lois Stasiulewicz and brother-in-law Butch (Lucy) Giffin and sisters-in-law; Pam (Joe) DiLoretta, Maggie (Jim) Kosikowski and Michelle Sargeant.
Friends will be received at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, on Wednesday, April 3 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm with a vigil service at 6:30 pm. A funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, April 4, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery will follow.
