Geno Lelli Obituary

Geno W. Lelli, 88, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away suddenly on Monday, May 10, 2021 at UPMC Pittsburgh from cardiac arrest.

Geno was born in Steubenville, Ohio on September 5, 1932 to the late Querino and Nickolena (Mangiamele) Lelli. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Beverly (Roush) Lelli. Also preceding in death are his brother Raymond (Jean) Lelli and his nephew Raymond Lelli Jr, as well as his in-laws Ronald and Thelma Roush.

Geno was a graduate of Steubenville Big Red Class of 1950, where he was a star football player as well as played other numerous sports. Another fond memory of Geno’s was playing on the Zimnox Coal Legion Team. He married the love of his life, Beverly Lelli on Dec 27, 1952. Geno was an avid golfer at Belle View Golf Course and really enjoyed bowling and watching sports with his family.

Geno was a carpenter by trade and worked for many years for Sunset Window Company and then went on to work for Strobel Construction and Clause Construction.

Surviving is his son Craig (Michelle) Lelli of Dublin, OH; his three daughters Marilyn (Bill) Lamatrice of Wintersville, Margie Matthews of Dublin, OH; and Shari (Ric) King of Wintersville. Geno is also survived by his brother Querino (June) Lelli of Bend, OR; his sisters-in-law Janet (late Jim) Orler of Steubenville, and Suzie Fonow of Sarasota, FL; his grandchildren whom he cherished Nicholas (Lynsey) Lamatrice of Naples, FL; Daniel Lamatrice  and Jordan Lamatrice of Columbus, OH; Erica (Tyler) Hannah of Newark, OH;  Michael and Liza Matthews of Dublin, OH; and Anthony Lelli and Jonathan Lelli of Dublin, OH; and five great-grandchildren whom he adored Lillian and David Lamatrice; and August, Graham, and Brody Hannah.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 60 years.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-6 PM at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. The family will be holding a private funeral and burial ceremony.

Masks and social distancing will be required.
