Libertad M. Jose

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Libertad M. Jose (Betty) on May 5, 2022. She was born on October 22, 1942, in Manila, Philippines. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Gumercindo R. Jose. They were married for 52 years at the time of his passing. Following the profound loss of her cherished husband, and with her own heart broken, Betty bravely navigated the path forward for her children, ensuring the family legacy she and her husband created would continue.

She is survived by her three children, Atty. Estelita J. (Todd) Stephan and their children Austin, Aleya and Aaron of Upper St. Clair, PA; Dr. Joel G. (Judy) Jose and their sons J. Nathan and Jacob of New Albany, OH; Dr. Anna J. (Jason) Warnock and their children Liberty and Joseph of Steubenville, OH.

Betty dedicated her life to her marriage, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her Grandchildren play Football, Lacrosse, Baseball, Tennis, Basketball and perform with the CCHS Band Color Guard. Betty was always the most supportive cheerleader. In fact, days before her passing and from her hospital bed, she recorded a message for her Grandson, J. Nathan -- “Go Army! Beat Navy!”  Betty enjoyed traveling all over the world, a nice round of golf with the ladies, a winning afternoon at the casino and planning grand holiday celebrations.  Betty was also a supporter of multiple charities, particularly those dedicated to the wellbeing of children. Betty was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in Steubenville. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the doctors and nurses at Trinity West who cared for their mother -- especially Dr. Charn Nandra, Dr. Preethi Murty, Dr. Dinyo Mitkov Nunev, Dr. John Schirger, Dr. Brian Burke and the CVU and ICU Nursing Staff.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 1-4 PM at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church Monday at 10:00 AM, please meet at the Mosti Funeral Home at 9:00 AM.  

There will be a luncheon reception following the funeral mass at Scaffidi’s Restaurant, 350 S. Hollywood Blvd, Steubenville.
