Mark H. Nehrbas, 71, of Steubenville died Monday, January 16, 2023 at Trinity Valley Hospice. He was born May 14, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late Robert and Marianne Nehrbas. He had a heart for evangelization and loved his family deeply.
Mark grew up in New York and enjoyed sailing, even earning a silver cup after a race during his teenage years. He went to the University of Dayton where he met his future bride, Carol. They started their family in Dayton and later relocated to Steubenville. He retired from Franciscan University after nearly 30 years of service where he held a variety of roles from Director of FIRE to Director of Development. His work impacted thousands of people and helped to further the University’s mission of bringing people closer to the Lord. Later in life he began to practice the art of calligraphy and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren often times on Lake Pymatuning.
Surviving are his wife Carol Eichenlaub Nehrbas, whom he married April 8, 1978; daughters Jessica (Nehrbas) Cheslar, Mary Clare (Nehrbas) Green, and Anne (Nehrbas) List; sons Paul Nehrbas, John Nehrbas, Timothy Nehrbas, Michael Nehrbas, Joseph Nehrbas, and Christopher Nehrbas; grandchildren Lucas Cheslar, Nicholas Cheslar, Isaac Cheslar, Evelyn Cheslar, Farrah Nehrbas, Jensen Nehrbas, Olivia Nehrbas, John Roman Nehrbas, Fiona Nehrbas, Robert Green, Leah Green, Blaise Green, Gemma Green, Patrick Green, Zelie Green, Benedict Green, Nora Nehrbas, Jude Nehrbas, Adam List.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 1pm-5pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. Funeral mass will be Monday 10am at Holy Family Church. Entombment will follow at a later time.
