Mary Tindor Obituary

Mary Jean “Jeannie” (Prokorym) Tindor, 67, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, at UCLA Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 23, 1958 in Steubenville, Ohio, Jeannie was a proud 1976 graduate of Catholic Central High School. She later built a life in Las Vegas with her husband, Jim, where she worked for many years in banking and gaming before retiring from the casino cage at ARIA Resort & Casino. She was known for her outgoing, strong-willed personality and the gift of making everyone around her feel welcomed and cared for. Though she made Las Vegas her home, she always remained deeply connected to her Steubenville roots and treasured the lifelong friendships she maintained with fellow Steubenville natives throughout the years.

Jeannie was a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Tindor; her daughter, Jessica (Matt Sears) Tindor; her son, James “Jimmy” Tindor; and her three cherished grandchildren, Amelia Tindor, Cecilia Sears, and Lorenzo Sears. She is also survived by her siblings Patty Prokorym, Kathy (Rob) Hadfield, Philip Prokorym, and Paula (David) Beickman; by her nieces Julie Hadfield, Carin Hadfield, Lucia Beickman, and Lilli Beickman; and by her great-nephew, Chevy Fraley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimir Prokorym and Pauline DeAngelis Prokorym. Jeannie will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery alongside her parents, grandparents, and many beloved family members.

Jeannie found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for the people she loved, making crafts, listening to live music, playing bunco with her longtime bunco club friends, and enjoying bingo and slot machines. She was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan who loved watching football. She will be remembered for her homemade pasta and red sauce, her strength and loyalty, and the way she was always willing to help anyone in need. Jeannie was a devoted wife and mother, a wonderful friend, and someone whose warmth, hospitality, and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She also had a special love for Michael Bolton and never passed up the opportunity to see him perform live. Above all, she cherished cooking homemade meals for her family, gathering everyone around the table, and the simple joy of being surrounded by the people she loved most.

A memorial funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 30, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Steubenville, Ohio.

Those wishing to send floral arrangements may do so. For those who prefer another expression of sympathy, donations in Jeannie’s memory may be made to the UCLA Medical Center Giving Program, the American Liver Foundation, or the American Transplant Foundation. The family also encourages others to give blood whenever possible and to support liver disease awareness in Jeannie’s honor.

Her love, strength, and generosity will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
