Maura Mappin-Dubus of Steubenville, died peacefully at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV on September 13, 2022. She was surrounded by loving friends during her stay at Liza’s Place. She was born on August 28, 1947, in New Kensington, PA, the daughter of the late Merle and Helen J. Mappin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Dubus and aunt, Mary V. Simons.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard (Cynthia) Mappin of Wyomissing, PA and Merle Mappin of Coral Springs, FL, her nieces, Ashley (Gary) Sopcheck of Irmo, SC, Alana Mappin and her nephew, Casey Mappin both of Coral Springs, FL, her stepson, Jesse (Meg Ocampo) Dubus of San Francisco, CA, a grandson, Calixto Ocampo Dubus, and her faithful companion, Lady.
Maura received her BS in sociology from the College of Steubenville and her Masters Degree in counseling from Youngstown State University. She was a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). She retired from the Belmont-Harrison-Mental Health and Recovery Board in 2014. She continued her commitment to the field of mental health and recovery by serving on the Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board. She has enjoyed traveling extensively with friends during her retirement.
All those who had the privilege of knowing Maura were blessed by her kind, calm, and giving personality.
Maura was immensely grateful for the wonderful care and compassion she received during her stay at Liza’s Place.
Arrangements will be handled by Mosti Funeral Home. At Maura’s request there will be no visitation.
