Richard “Dick” Hillegas Guenther, age 83 of Bloomingdale, passed on January 13, 2023. Dick was born November, 21, 1939 in McKeesport, PA and raised in West Mifflin, PA to the late Grace and Ted Guenther. Dick is also preceded in death by his brother Ted. After graduation from Clairton High School, Dick served in the US Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1964.
He moved to Baltimore, MD to pursue a career as an electrician. Dick worked as an IBEW journeyman electrician and moved to the Valley in 1977. He later became a business owner and turned Dial Eastern States Aircraft Painting into one of the best aviation restoration shops in the country. He later served on the Harrison County Airport Authority and helped oversee improvements to the facility. A great dad and “pap”, a terrific brother and a loyal friend, Dick spent retirement reading, tinkering with cars and airplanes and visiting the Stoney Spring Farm with family and friends.
He is survived by brothers, Bob, Frank, Harry and Bill; sons Rich (Brandi), Tom (Carolina) and Dave (Dena); grandchildren, Ben, Abby, Grace Elizabeth, Myles, Jacqueline, Paul, Alex, Grace Caroline, and Maddie.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 pm until time of services at 3 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.
