 Sr. Grace Anne Wills, TOR Sr. Grace Anne Wills, TOR, age 90, went to her heavenly reward very peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Valley Hospice in Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio. Sr. Grace Anne (Lucretia Umphres) was born on June 1, 1933 in Okemah, Oklahoma to the late Jewel and Ted Umphres.

In July 1954 she married Roland Wills, her beloved husband for 28 years. After being widowed for 16 years, Sr. Grace Anne responded to a call from the Lord to the consecrated life and entered the Franciscan Sisters, TOR in Toronto, Ohio. She made her first profession of vows on May 1, 1999 and perpetual vows on July 5, 2003. Sr. Grace Anne served in the community’s Religious Articles, Altar Bread, and Sewing departments for a number of years. She also had the privilege of living at Heart of Mary, the community’s mission house in downtown Steubenville, and ministering to the people in the area. Another joy for Sr. Grace Anne was serving students from Franciscan University for five years in the university’s study abroad program in Gaming, Austria.

Our beloved Sr. Grace Anne is known for her great faith, love for the Word of God, devotion to her family and friends, her artistic bent, love for her country, and her love for music, especially for certain favorite songs, “Glorious Unfolding”, the classic “Rock of Ages”, and “On that Holy Mountain”.

In addition to her parents, Sr. Grace Anne is preceded in death by her husband, Roland, son Christopher, and grandson Connor. She is survived by six children: Anne Wills of Irving, TX, Jean (Jamie) Reed of Cedar Hill, TX, Greg (Lisa) Wills of Annapolis, MD, Paul (Kim) Wills of Columbus, OH, Kate Szyszko of Aubrey, TX, David (Nicole) Wills of Christ Church, Barbados, and Sisi Wills, daughter-in-law, of W Palm Beach, FL. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Public viewing will be on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 4–8 pm with the Rosary at 7:15 pm followed by a vigil service. On Monday, February 12, from 9-10:15 am there will be a public viewing before the funeral Mass held at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Monastery, 369 Little Church Road, Toronto, OH 43964.
