Stella Panella Obituary

Stella M. Panella, 86, of Steubenville died Sunday, August 14, 2022 at her home. She was born August 24, 1935 in Follansbee. She is the daughter of the late James Sr. and Louise Maracco Meca. Stella is also preceded in death by her husband Joseph Panella; brother Joseph Mecca; sister Rose Ferguson; son in laws Richard Pizzino & Marcus Markakis.

Stella was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish and it’s CWC. She was also a Eucharistic Minister and a member in the Italian American Culture Club.

Surviving are one son James Panella of Steubenville, with whom she resided; three daughters Jo Ann Pizzino of Steubenville, Karen Markakis of Wintersville and Kathy Maus of Richmond; two brothers Geno Mecca and James (Nina) Meca both of Follansbee; seven grandchildren Thomas (Jessica) & Joseph Pizzino, Christina (Euthumn) Napier, Marcus (Megan) Markakis, Nicole (Vince) Burt, Alexa Maus and James Panella Jr.; eight great grandchildren Rose, Dominc, Max, Ava, Enzo, Theodore, Tristan and Adrienne.   

Visitation will be held Friday from 10 am until 12 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will follow at 12:30 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
